About The Captains

Capt Jenn is voted 4 times (2009-2010-2012-2016) Outstanding Sailing Instructor by the American Sailing Association. She's a certified ASA sailing instructor and currently holds a US Coast Guard 100-ton Near Coastal Master’s license with Sailing Endorsement.
Sunshine Coast Adventures

Captain Jennifer MacLeanShe has been working as a sailing educator and charter yacht captain since 1999. She specializes in women’s, couples and youth sailing programs. She worked as a captain with the Boy Scouts of America for ten years in their live aboard sailing adventure program (Florida National High Adventure Sea Base) and has lived aboard her own boat for 18 years. She has been featured in different articles and magazines including Latitude and Attitude, La Vie Claire, Unwind, Waterfront News, Bearings and is also featured in a coffee table book called Women and the Sea.

Jenn has extensive coastal and blue-water sailing experience, including an Atlantic Ocean crossing in 2006. Several solo sails to the Bahamas. She has also sailed in the Chesapeake Bay, the St-Lawrence Seaway in Canada and the Caribbean. Jenn is fluent in French, English, and Spanish and enjoys all sorts of adventures including diving, fishing, singing, cooking and playing guitar.

Captain Jeff Riecks
Captain Jeff Riecks is a certified ASA instructor and currently holds a US Coast Guard 50-ton Near Coastal Master’s license with Sailing and Towing Endorsements. He has been working as a sailing educator and charter/private yacht captain since 2001. Prior to becoming a professional mariner Jeff spent many years in the corporate world as a mechanical engineer and manager in the government electronics, computers and information technology industries.

Jeff has taught basic, intermediate and advanced sailing and cruising to hundreds of adults and children and received the “2005 Outstanding Instructor” award from the American Sailing Association. He is our catamaran sailing instructor and In addition to sailing, Jeff enjoys playing acoustic guitar, reading, and working on electro-mechanical boat systems.


/ Bob and Ann Sailing the SunsetGreg is a United States Coast Guard certified Captain, as well as an American Sailing Association Instructor. Greg has spent years on the water, enjoying everything from sailing and boating to surfing and diving. He is looking forward to earning his first instructor of the year recognition with with the Sunshine Coast Adventures Sailing School. Before beginning his career as a boat Captain Greg worked as Systems Engineer for a leading supply chain and logistics firm, as well as managing the locally renowned Ziggie and Mad Dog’s restaurant down here in the Keys. He enjoys just about anything he can get into, on the water or off.
